Magnolia rostrata

As well as the ’upside down’ magnolia wilsonii, this big beauty is now flowering. The huge leaves are really it’s best feature but the flowers are like large balls of petals. Our 2 M. rostratas are really tall trees, the one in Melrose is said to be the UK champion. These flowers later become the huge seed pods.
