Meconopsis: the highs and lows

While we now have several well established clumps of perennial meconopsis in the garden, getting new seedlings to this stage can be a battle. Slugs seem to love them when small and I have tried just about everything to keep them at bay. As you can see this year has been bad- I eventually dug up 20 from my nursery bed, potted them up and have put them in the greenhouse- it’s very frustrating!

However when the clumps are strong, there isn’t a problem as you can see with Meconopsis Mildred on Granny’s Hens.
