Starting to warm up

It’s been an incredibly cold and long wet spring so far and it’s been wonderful this week to feel the warmth of the sun again- although there’s still a cold east wind evident in the top of the garden. Suddenly buds are beginning to open and colour appears around us.

It’s the Scottish Rhododendron Show on Saturday and I have been busy picking blooms to show. It will be a different show this year as lots of flowers are still in tight bud and will only open in May or later. But what is open has held beautifully. Unfortunately there won’t be any lindleyi to show unless something magical happens! Look at R Moro, usually rather soft and quick to collapse- it’s splendid.

Come along to see the Show at the Gibson Hall Garelochhead, opening at 12 noon this Saturday- or better still, bring something from your garden to show on Friday evening or early Saturday- before 9am.
