Actinidia kolokmicta

Behind the house, on the south facing wall of the barn is a huge plant of Actinidia kolokmicta, currently full of tiny white flowers and with leaf colour that almost defies description.

First in early March/ April green leaves appear, then white patches colour the tips, spreading quickly. Then, almost overnight, strong pink blotches arrive and the whole effect is breathtaking! The colours change from day to day while many leaves remain green, often with a red edge, acting as a foil to the brightness.
