Rhododendron maddenii in its many forms

June and July bring us new scents in the garden. The maddenii family that started to bloom in May get into full flow. The full names are a mouthful- Rhododendron maddenii ssp maddenii Polyandrum Group for example, this pink with yellow tones that came to us from Achamore garden on Gigha. Or the pure ivory white of Rhododendron nuttallii (or is it perhaps R taggianum?) Every expert has a different opinion on the naming of species!
