Spring at Glenarn

It’s been a wonderful 2 weeks of magnolias with the first petals now falling after the colder weather. At Glenarn we have about 10 large Asiatic tree magnolias flowering just as the garden opens in March. The blossoms are huge against the sky and can be seen from many angles across the garden. These fallen petals are a bonus for the roe deer, hungry at this time before there’s much else to eat.

You can also see many big leaved rhododendrons in flower, special to Glenarn as the previous owners made several crosses from the species. The huge flower heads are amazing!
